Hey, here’s a story for you. The story of my first ever Warped Tour.
In the summer of 2011, I attended Warped Tour for the first time. I showed up at 11am when gates opened and left by 3pm to drive my dad & I up north. If you know anything about Warped dates in Canada, you’ll know everything gets delayed by border security and nothing gets going at 11am. I think I saw half of one set that day. Big Chocolate was great, though.
The reason I actually went (because the only band I knew that year was 3OH!3…) was because Nintendo had a booth set up to test out the new Nintendo 3DS. I wish I was kidding. I won a free ticket to Warped and hung out in the hot sun for 4 hours to scream over Ocarina Of Time 3D in a tent next to the airport. They were literally taking notes on people’s reactions and the man showed me how everyone else said quotable things and my page in the book just said “AAAHHHH IT JUST… WHEN I MOVE IT… AHHHH!!!! AHH!!!!”
And you know what? I went back year after year and learned more and more about the scene and now I actually know what’s going on and am not the biggest normie in the field during any given Warped Tour.
