Joe!! Wood!! Joe Wood!! I am always excited to see him pop up in my release radar, but even more excited just to see him succeeding. “Pouring Rain” is absolutely my favourite song of his so far. Let’s talk about it!
The sound effects in the very first moments of the song remind me of Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere” and that is a GREAT thing. This track brings in elements of what he was working towards with his past singles, but it feels more… Joe. Or maybe it’s just that as more singles roll out, I start to associate these sounds more with him than anyone else. Much to think about.
It’s electro-pop and it’s fun and his choruses are CONSTANTLY stuck in my head. Before I even learn the words, they’re already burned into the walls of my skull every single time. I feel like I’m watching him evolve before my eyes, and it leaves me wondering… what’s next? Where will the songs go from here? We’ve already witnessed so much growth and change in the last year, I can only imagine what’s to come.
