Is it possible to find a song that contains everything you love about pop music… while also sounding like nothing you’ve heard before? Not sure if you can tell where this is going, but I’d like to introduce you to Jett Kwong and her new single, “Cream”.
I’m not sure what makes this song feel so atmospheric & unique. The inclusion of the guzheng, the synths, her voice (and that vibrato, oh my god)… everything combined? I guess it’s probably the whole combo, but it just feels different. And in the best way possible, it makes me think of the water levels in Super Mario 64. I might make this comparison more than anyone should in 2019, but this is where my priorities lie. I’m sorry.
I’ve been writing a lot lately, and it’s cool to be able to see in real time how much I’ve been broadening my horizons this year. Instead of solely stressing over coming up with blog post ideas, I’ve put more focus into discovering new artists. And honestly? It feels awesome… especially when artists like Jett come along.
