An Interview with Colony House

If you’ve ever met me or spoken with me online, I think it comes across pretty clearly that I genuinely enjoy talking about music. I can usually see the look in someone’s eyes when they realize I’m not going to shut up and they start trying to think of ways to escape the conversation. I can talk your ear off about anything: new music, industry issues, apps for music discovery, the benefits of streaming… honestly, I’m just a nightmare to be around.

Spoiler: I’m about to talk your ear off about Colony House

That’s obviously 99% of the reason this website exists. It’s a place for me to ramble while giving you full control of when you escape the digital conversation. Lately, my site has started to take on a life of its own and I’ve started receiving requests to interview different bands. I’ve done it a few times in the past and always loved it, so it’s been super fulfilling to work it in with the rest of my content. It makes me feel like my site actually means something, like I can do something to help the bands I love and support.

I feel like I haven’t had time to write about all my thoughts and feelings (maybe this is a relief to you, who is to say) but it’s because I’ve been busy talking to bands about their experiences as fans and music lovers. I hope you enjoy getting to know these people better as much as I have been. I swear I’ll get back to some educational or informative posts soon (I say that a lot…) but for now, please enjoy my interview with Colony House!

Colony House is an indie rock band from Franklin, TN. Their newest album Only The Lonely is honestly so sick and I bet you thought this was going to be an official band bio but SURPRISE it’s just me rambling about my love for music. They’ve done some really cool things that are usually seen as ~milestone moments~ for bands, like performing on Conan (twice!), Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Today Show, and playing a whole slew of shows at this year’s SXSW. Alongside all of that, they’re all the nicest dudes on earth. You can check out their latest single “You & I” below.
